Perps and yield
Axiom perps on Hyperliquid
Axiom lets you trade perpetual futures on Hyperliquid from the same account you use for Solana spot. Margin is USDC, leverage goes up to 50x, and Axiom charges 0.01% per transaction on top of Hyperliquid's own fees. This guide covers moving funds in, opening and managing a position, the fees in full, and the liquidation arithmetic that Axiom's own docs warn about.
Axiom's documentation states: "Leverage amplifies both gains and losses—many traders lose everything by overleveraging in volatile markets." At 50x, a 2% move against you consumes your entire margin.
Perps at a glance
| Venue | Hyperliquid, via Axiom's Perpetuals tab |
|---|---|
| Maximum leverage | Up to 50x, per Axiom's docs; Hyperliquid caps vary by market |
| Margin | USDC on Hyperliquid, converted from SOL inside Axiom |
| Axiom fee | 0.01% per transaction |
| Other costs | Hyperliquid maker and taker fees, funding payments |
| Position tools | Entry, mark and liquidation price, margin, take-profit and stop-loss |
| Withdrawal | Convert back to USDC on Solana, about 5 minutes |
Step 1: fund your perps account
Click the SOL–USDC button at the top right
Click the swap button
Convert SOL to USDC on Hyperliquid
Type the amount of SOL and click Convert. The value moves from your Solana wallet to your Hyperliquid margin balance. This is separate from the wallet's own Convert function; the difference is explained in convert SOL and USDC.
Step 2: open a position
Open the Perpetuals tab and choose a pair
Choose Long or Short
Long profits if the price rises. Short profits if it falls; you are effectively selling borrowed exposure to buy it back cheaper.
Enter the amount in USDC, pick leverage, confirm
The button reads Long or Short followed by the pair. Lower leverage places your liquidation price further from your entry.
Manage it from the three tabs
Positions shows what is open. Open Orders shows orders not yet filled. Trades shows history with PnL. The perps portfolio adds entry price, mark price, liquidation price, margin used and your TP/SL settings.
How liquidation works
With leverage you control a position larger than your margin. If the price moves against you by enough to consume that margin, the exchange closes the position: a liquidation. Ignoring fees and funding, the adverse move that wipes you out is roughly 100% divided by the leverage.
| Leverage | Adverse move to liquidation (approx.) |
|---|---|
| 2x | 50% |
| 5x | 20% |
| 10x | 10% |
| 25x | 4% |
| 50x | 2% |
Real liquidation comes slightly earlier because of maintenance margin and fees. A stop-loss set inside the liquidation distance lets you choose your loss instead of taking the maximum.
Fees in full
- Axiom: 0.01% of each transaction.
- Hyperliquid: its published maker and taker fees on every fill.
- Funding: periodic payments between longs and shorts that keep the perp near spot. Paid or received depending on your side and the rate.
- Conversions: SOL to Hyperliquid USDC and back are swaps with normal Solana costs.
Because fees are charged on the leveraged notional, a 0.01% fee at 50x is 0.5% of your margin per transaction. The fees page puts this next to spot costs.
Step 3: withdraw
Close positions, then use the same SOL–USDC button, click swap, and convert your Hyperliquid USDC back to USDC on Solana. Axiom's docs say it arrives after about five minutes. From there you can convert to SOL, trade, or withdraw.
