Axiom and memecoin trading glossary
Every term that appears in Axiom's interface or docs, defined in one or two sentences with a link to the guide where it matters. Terms are grouped by where you meet them.
Tokens and launches
- Bonding curve
- A pricing formula used by launchpads such as pump.fun. The token's price rises automatically as more is bought, until the curve fills and the token migrates to a DEX.
- Migration
- The moment a token leaves its bonding curve and gets a real liquidity pool on a DEX such as Raydium. Axiom's migration sniper trades on this event.
- New Pairs
- The Pulse column showing tokens created in the last few minutes. See Pulse.
- Final Stretch
- The Pulse column for tokens near 100% of their bonding curve, about to migrate.
- Migrated
- The Pulse column for tokens that have just reached a DEX pool, newest first.
- Dev holding
- The share of supply held by the token's creator. A high figure means one wallet can crash the price.
- Dex Paid
- A flag showing the project has paid for an enhanced DEX listing, often read as a sign of a team with money to spend. Available as an Explore filter.
- Market cap
- Price multiplied by circulating supply. On new tokens it can be tiny and move tens of percent per minute.
- Liquidity
- The value sitting in the token's trading pool. Low liquidity means your own order moves the price.
- OG Mode
- An Axiom Similar Tokens setting that surfaces the oldest tokens with the highest market caps. See Explore and Trending.
Buyers and manipulation
- Sniper
- A bot or trader that buys in the first moments of a launch. Pulse shows the percentage of supply held by snipers.
- Insider
- Wallets connected to the team or private sales. Shown as Insiders % in Pulse.
- Bundle
- Several buys executed as separate transactions inside the same block, usually by one actor controlling many wallets. Axiom's bundle checker flags four or more buys in a block.
- Top 10 holders %
- The share of supply held by the ten largest wallets. Lower means less concentrated.
- Pro traders
- An Axiom Pulse metric for the share of experienced traders in a token.
- Wash trading
- Fake volume created by trading with yourself to make a token look active. Axiom's docs warn that Trending can include it.
- Rug pull
- A token whose creators remove liquidity or dump their holdings, leaving buyers with nothing.
- Smart money
- Wallets with a track record of profitable early entries. The wallet tracker exists to follow them.
Execution and settings
- Slippage
- The maximum price change you will accept between placing a trade and it confirming. Exceed it and Axiom cancels the trade. See settings.
- Priority fee
- An extra payment to Solana validators to process your transaction sooner. Axiom's default is 0.001 SOL.
- Bribe (Jito tip)
- A tip to block builders for early placement in the block. Also defaults to 0.001 SOL on Axiom.
- Jito
- Solana infrastructure that lets transactions be submitted privately to block builders. Axiom routes MEV-protected trades through it.
- MEV
- Maximal extractable value: profit taken by reordering transactions, most often by sandwiching your buy. See MEV protection.
- Sandwich attack
- A bot buys just before your order and sells just after it, pocketing the price move your order caused.
- Secure, Reduced, Off
- Axiom's three MEV modes. Secure waits for a whitelisted validator; Reduced uses Jito with some exposure; Off sends to everyone.
- Quick Buy
- The lightning-bolt button on Pulse rows that buys a preset amount in one click.
- Instant Trade
- Axiom's one-click buy and sell popup beside the chart, with hotkeys. See first trade.
- Limit order
- An order that executes only when price reaches your level. See limit orders.
- Contract address (CA)
- The unique on-chain address of a token. Pasting it into Axiom's search opens the exact token, avoiding copycats with the same name.
Wallets and money
- Non-custodial
- You hold the keys; the service does not. Axiom's wallet is non-custodial via Turnkey. See is Axiom safe?.
- Recovery phrase (seed phrase)
- The 12 or 24 words that regenerate your wallet's keys. Anyone with it controls the wallet.
- Turnkey
- The key-management provider Axiom uses for its wallets.
- Multi-wallet
- Running several labelled Solana wallets under one Axiom login. See multi-wallet.
- Convert
- Axiom's in-wallet swap between SOL and USDC. See convert.
- On-ramp
- A way to buy crypto with ordinary money. Axiom's is Coinbase, up to $500 a week without KYC.
- Rent
- The small SOL deposit Solana requires to create a new token account in your wallet. A common reason a first USDC transaction fails.
- Solscan
- A Solana block explorer. Paste a wallet or transaction to see exactly what happened on-chain.
Perps and yield
- Perpetual futures (perps)
- Leveraged contracts with no expiry that track an asset's price. Axiom offers them through Hyperliquid. See perps.
- Leverage
- Trading with borrowed exposure. 10x means a 10% adverse move wipes out your margin.
- Margin
- The USDC you post to open a leveraged position.
- Liquidation
- Forced closure of a position once losses consume its margin.
- Funding rate
- A periodic payment between longs and shorts that keeps a perp's price near the spot price.
- Hyperliquid
- The derivatives exchange Axiom's perps run on.
- Validator
- A node that processes Solana transactions. Staking SOL to Axiom's validator earns rewards at 0% commission. See staking.
- axiSOL
- Axiom's liquid staking token. You receive it when you stake through Axiom's site; it earns rewards minus a 5% fee.
- LST (liquid staking token)
- A token representing staked SOL that you can still trade or use while it earns.
- Marginfi
- The lending protocol Axiom uses to offer yield, advertised at up to 15% APY.
Rewards
- Cashback tier
- Axiom's seven-step ladder from Wood to Champion that returns 0.05% to 0.25% of trade value in SOL. See fees.
- Points
- A score earned from trades and referrals, shown on Axiom's leaderboard. See points and rewards.
- Referral link
- Your axiom.trade/@name link. Sign-ups through it get 10% off fees and earn you a share of Axiom's net fee. See referral code.
