Safety

Is Axiom Trade safe?

Axiom is a genuine product from a Y Combinator company, and its wallet is non-custodial, so Axiom does not hold your funds the way an exchange does. It is not risk-free. In February 2026 an investigator alleged that a senior employee misused internal access to user data, phishing clones of the site are common, and the memecoin trading Axiom is built for loses most participants money. This page separates the risks Axiom controls from the ones you do.

Short answer: the custody model is sound and no theft of user funds through the platform has been reported. Treat your activity as visible to Axiom, log in only at axiom.trade, keep your recovery phrase offline, and never deposit more than you can lose.

How Axiom holds your funds

When you sign up, Axiom creates a Solana wallet whose keys are managed through Turnkey, a key-management provider. You are shown the recovery phrase and can view it again in settings. Axiom's FAQ describes the setup as non-custodial: the assets are in your control, not Axiom's.

In practice that means your tokens sit at an on-chain address that you can open in any Solana wallet by importing the phrase. Axiom's docs explicitly recommend doing this with Phantom, Rabby or Solflare so you have access "under any circumstances". It also means the usual self-custody rules apply: a lost phrase is unrecoverable and a leaked phrase is an emptied wallet.

The February 2026 allegations

On 26 February 2026, on-chain investigator ZachXBT published claims that a senior Axiom employee had used internal tools to look up private user information, including the wallets behind specific traders, and had discussed using that access to trade. Axiom responded that it was "shocked and disappointed", said it had removed access to the systems involved, and said it would continue to investigate. CoinDesk and The Block covered the story.

What the allegations were not: there was no report of user funds being taken through the platform, and the Turnkey custody model was not reported as compromised. What they were: evidence that Axiom's systems can connect your account, wallets and referral relationships, and that at least one insider was alleged to have looked. If privacy matters to you, Axiom's multi-wallet feature lets you separate strategies, but all of those wallets still belong to one account.

The risks Axiom cannot remove

  • Token risk. New Solana tokens are frequently coordinated dumps. The bundle checker and Pulse filters reduce the odds; Axiom itself says no detection is 100% accurate.
  • Leverage. Perps at up to 50x can be liquidated by a 2% move. Axiom's own docs warn that many traders lose everything by overleveraging. See perps.
  • Smart-contract risk. axiSOL and Marginfi yield depend on third-party programs. See staking and yield.
  • No safety net. There is no deposit insurance, no ombudsman and no chargeback. A trade you regret is final.
  • Operational issues. User reviews commonly mention slow support and withdrawals showing as pending. The help section covers how to diagnose those.

Safety checklist

  1. Confirm Axiom's terms permit users in your country before you deposit.
  2. Bookmark https://axiom.trade and log in only from that bookmark.
  3. Write the recovery phrase on paper or metal. Never photograph it, paste it into a note app or type it into a website.
  4. Import the phrase into Phantom, Rabby or Solflare so you have a second door to the same funds.
  5. Enable two-factor authentication on the email or Google account you used to sign up.
  6. Turn off DMs from server members in Axiom's Discord.
  7. Keep only active trading money in the wallet. Move profits out.
  8. Start every new token with a small test buy, and check Trader Scan before sizing up.

Safety FAQ

Is Axiom Trade a scam?

No. Axiom is a documented product from a Y Combinator company with named founders. The trading it enables is high risk, and scammers imitate the site, but the platform itself is real.

Has Axiom been hacked?

We have found no reports of user wallets being drained through the Axiom platform. The 2026 allegations concerned an employee's access to user data, not stolen funds.

Can Axiom freeze or take my funds?

Axiom describes the wallet as non-custodial, with keys managed via Turnkey and a recovery phrase you control. Importing that phrase into another wallet gives you access independent of Axiom's interface.

Is my trading private on Axiom?

Assume not. Solana is a public ledger, and the 2026 allegations indicated that Axiom's internal systems can link accounts to wallets. Separate wallets reduce on-chain linkage but not Axiom's own view.

What is the safest way to log in?

Type axiom.trade yourself or use a bookmark, complete the Cloudflare check, and sign in with the method you registered with. Never enter a recovery phrase to log in. See login problems.
